Union Pines picked up a 4-0 nonconference boys’ soccer win Monday against Montgomery Central.

It was the home opener for the Vikings.

The Vikings broke out to a 2-0 halftime lead on goals by Landen Daugherty off a corner kick from Eduardo Flores and a goal by David Perez off an assist from Sean Blatz.

Second-half goals were provided by Josh Klotz, who finished with a header off a beautiful cross from Lalo Perez, and followed that up with a goal off a pass behind the defense by Flores.

Tommy Reinhart and Sean Blatz combined in goal for the Viking shutout.

Ethan Ellis and Jaysen Osborne contributed strong play throughout the game, according to Viking head coach Ray Blatz.

Union Pines is now 2-2-2 for the season. The Vikings are scheduled to play nonconference rival Jordan-Matthews today (Wednesday) at home.
