The Pinecrest girls bowling team claimed the state title recently during the bowling championships hosted at the Sandhills Bowling Center, a first for the program since 2019.
The state titles comes after winning the conference title a week earlier. The 558 pins for the team during the qualifying round placed the Patriots in the top four out of 12 teams competing. Pinecrest defeated Pine Forest in two games in the semifinals, and then rallied to win the final two games after dropping the first game in the championship to Purnell Swett. Members of the state title team, from left, Lillian Hall, Elizabeth Wilson, coach Darla Watson, Catherin Vierwinden, Alexis Taylor, Alexis Prewitt and Dacey Clark.
