The Pinecrest Patriots cross country teams traveled to Kernersville Friday to compete in the annual Friday Night Lights meet.

The Patriots competed in two events, the championship and JV gold races. The night ended with the Patriot girls finishing in 10th place and the boys claiming fourth place overall.

The standout runner for the Lady Patriots was Carmen Alder, who repeated as the Friday Night Lights champion, with a time of 17:51. Finishing right behind her was her sister Vanessa Alder, crossing the line in 19:06.06 to earn 12th place overall.

The next finishers for the Lady Patriots in the championship race were Lauren Wimberly, running a 20:15.21, Emma Overton, coming across in 22:16.13, and Caroline Carter, finishing with a time of 22:57.59.

In the girls’ JV gold race, the first runner to cross the finish line for the Lady Patriots was Helen West, finishing in 23:39.29.

West was followed by Genesis Lutsky, crossing the line in 24:26.72, Reagan Scepurek, running a 24:49.71, Arianna Russell, finishing with a time of 25:31.16, and Sophie Stanfield, coming across in 25:33.04.

In the boys’ championship race, Matt Bauer was the star for the Patriots, running a 16:14.51 to earn ninth place overall. Trailing behind him were Zack Gilbertson, coming across the line in 16:23.20, AJ Williams, finishing in 16:52.20, Adrian Archer, with a time of 16:53.11, and Spencer Lykins, crossing the line in 17:24.16.

Luis Garcia finished first for the Patriots in the boys’ JV gold race, running a 18:33.91. Coming across the line behind him were Joey VanCleave, finishing in 18:46.77, Evan Scalf, with a time of 18:59.56, JZ Brecher, coming across in 19:38.25, and Caleb Nocton, crossing the line in 19:44.03.

The Patriots cross country teams were scheduled to compete in their first Sandhills Athletic Conference meet of the year Tuesday at Hoke County High School in Raeford.
