Holes-in-One: Mike Fields, representing Pine Needles, recorded a hole-in-one while playing in a CGA Interclub match competition May 29. Competition was held at Pinewild on the Magnolia Course. Mike used his pitching wedge from 114 yards to the 12th green.
Celebrating this perfect shot was his playing partner Gary Strickfaden, and Rocco Simone and Bruce Connors, representing Pinewild. This was Mike’s second ace, the first was at Mid Pines, and each one was witnessed by his good friend Gary Strickfaden.
Joe Oxendine, a member at Pinewild, recorded a hole-in-one June 3, on the Holly Course. Joe used his 8-iron to cover the 103 yards to the 17th hole. His witnesses were his playing partners Bill Montgomery, Jack Butler and Marty Samchalk.
Bob Blackwell, a PCC member, recorded his third hole-in-one May 25 on course No. 9. Bob used his 7-iron to cover the 128 yards to the ninth green. This was his first hole-in-one here in Pinehurst.
There was lot to celebrate because it was also his wedding anniversary and his wife’s birthday. Sharing in the celebrations for this special day were his witnesses Bob and Jimmy Hepner and Carol Mulcahy.
Pinewild: The Men’s Golf Association played a “peer play” event May 30 on the Magnolia Course.

American Singles Golf: The Pinehurst Chapter played June 4 in a nine-and-dine at Longleaf Golf and Family Club. The format was individual competition utilizing the Peoria Handicap System.

Southern Pines: The ParSeekers played their annual member-member tournament June 4 and the game was the best of two scores.
Results: Elaine Workman and Dottie Guckin, net 57; Jean McNeill and Patti Billingham, net 59; Ann McGee and Ginger Addis, tied at net 61, with Shirley McIver and Holly Meystre.
Whispering Pines: The Ninettes played in a “revert three holes to par” contest June 3 on the front nine of the River Course. Each player took three holes and changed their score to par, with two-thirds of each player’s handicap used for scoring.
Results: Linda Schubert, 31, and Judy Loughlin, 32.
The Pinettes played June 4 in a Crier’s tournament (each player could throw out their four worst holes).

Midland: The Midland Skinners played June 1 with skin winners being Paul Stricker on the first hole, Denny Way on the fifth and Steve Presser on the ninth.
Ted Meyer and Steve Presser tied at net 30 and Brad Zeal had net 32. Brad Zeal won closest to the pin.
The Midland Ladies played May 30 in a “hate’m game.” Each player could throw out three holes that they hated. Scoring was low net.

Pat Land is the 18-Hole Ladies winner of the monthly Beacon Cup round with a net score of 58. Other scores: Barbara Card, net 62; Marilyn Holzerland net 64; Lindy Dibella and Nancy Cunningham tied at net 67.

The Men’s Golf Association played its monthly Ace of Aces qualifier June 5 with the two low net golfers qualifying for a handicap tournament in October. Max Picinich at net 63 and Peter Wyckoff at net 64 were the qualifiers.

Foxfire: The Ladies Golf Association played its McKenzie Cup tournament to determine the best net champion over two days of play. Competition was on May 29 and May 30.
