“Envision the Village” (aka 2019 Comprehensive Plan, aka Long Range Plan) recently finished a two-day open house at the Fair Barn. This plan will be instrumental in setting forth the future direction of Pinehurst.

The timeline calls for its adoption this October. On Nov. 5, 2019, we will elect a mayor and two Village Council members. It only makes sense that this new council be the one to make the decisions on what elements of the plan are adopted. To have one group adopt it only to then pass it to a new board is just wrong.

In addition, putting off the adoption until after the election would allow voters to select the candidates whose positions on the plan they most agree with.

I strongly urge that the timeline be adjusted so that the new Village Council is the one that approves the comprehensive plan.
