If you are a duck hunter, you are required to use a plug that limits the magazine to three shells. This rule is intended to give ducks a fighting chance to evade being shot by a hunter armed with an autoloader shotgun. We, as conservatives, (mostly) agree this is a good rule to avoid decimating the wild duck population while advancing a policy of skill and accuracy.

Our Constitution prevents taking away people's guns, but let's consider giving people the same consideration as wild ducks. For example: permanently limit magazine capacity to three rounds; allow only one magazine per gun; possession of non-compliant magazines will be fined $10,000 per incident.

The goal is not "gun control" but to give hunted people the same sporting chance we give wild ducks.

Don’t most States have limits on ducks and other wildlife. Stiff fines should reduce violations.

Conrad Meyer

Peyton, the author of this piece talks about ducks. Let's assume migratory ducks even though she wasn't specific. There has been a treaty in place for about 100 years with Britain on behalf of Canada to agree to a three shot limit to help reduce the decimation of migratory ducks that was happening back then - it survives to this day. Gun control advocates love to quote this to advance their narrative, but they never tell the whole story. I wonder why.

I planned to refrain from commenting on the letter as reading it was a waste of thirty seconds of my time. But now that I have commented, I'll simply say that it is pretty clear the writer has no experience with firearms at all. I'd be interested to know what she proposes for my revolvers - all of which hold more than 3 rounds.

The second amendment protects the natural, God-given right to life and the protection of it. There is no qualification of what means are necessary. If your local MS-13 neighbor owns an AK-47, a BB pistol will not protect you.

Easy to see why the people of the socialist gender will praise your comment. Please explain why you think that people must be given a chance like we give animals. Are you not aware that the vast majority of people that shoot more than one person are criminals and will obtain large capacity magazines illegally? I will ask you the same question I ask any gun grabber. How will you make criminals comply with the law ? They are called criminals for a reason. Say you can force magazine producers to stop making magazines that have more than 3 rounds? Are you going to go door to door and search every house for illegal magazines? So you will take away 4th Amendment rights to be free from illegal searches. I was a law enforcement officer for close to 20 years. The criminals have all the rights and they sure use them. You ask an honest citizen to obey a law and they usually do. CRIMINALS DON'T. We have not been invaded in modern times because other countries know that FREE AMERICANS can have more guns then any army in the world. If you limit that, then we can be open to invasion by armed armys or armed criminals.

Oh boy! You are really gonna hear from 2nd Amendment fanatics now. My suggestion, don't read any comments beyond mine, they'll make you sick to your stomach.

Frank Staples

You're right Jim...your comment does make me sick to my stomach because you obviously have never needed a firearm to protect yourself or your family and you want everyone else to abide by your ignorance. I know what you'll do if you're ever faced by a criminal...you'll hide in a closet and hope that your wife and kids can protect you. Does your family know that you are such a coward?
