I am responding to a letter written titled “Political Observations” in the May 13 issue of The Pilot. How anyone can conclude that any political party is promoting socialism for the USA is just not paying attention.

The proposal that scares the ultra-right is free medical care for all, just like the rest of the world where the poor can also get health care. We are in a capitalist country now and the shelves are going empty in places. Is that the blame of capitalism? No, it’s a pandemic that was poorly planned for many decades.

I believe in a managed capitalism where all the money does not rise to the top 5 percent as we are seeing since the Great Depression. Aren’t we here to take care of each other?

To ask anyone to vote for a candidate blindly just because they have an “R,” “D” or “I” in front of their name is what is hurting our country. Ignorance prevails when we act out of blind loyalty. Remember Germany in 1938?

Presenting there are two stark differences to vote for. One is for radical Socialism in which everyone, except for the leaders, to be equally miserable, or the nation of free people who can still enjoy “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”.

Ed Pieczynski

There is no "FREE" medical care.

Blind support for a party is what the sheeple voting Democrat do. Maybe you missed the 2016 campaign, when Donald Trump was opposed by his own party (who wanted the Establishment favorite Jeb Bush) the Democrats and the world press - and still won by a large margin. Grass roots Christian Conservatives make up the largest and strongest voting block in America today, the Moral Majority. They are often registered independent, or Democrat, come from all walks of life, income levels, ethnicity, careers, etc. This is why the political pundits continue to be shocked by the popularity of President Trump and other new conservative political figures.

I am at least happy that I found one kernel of truth in this screed. The pandemic was indeed planned for decades. By China and its surrogates. As for blind loyalty, consider otherwise intelligent people who are inclined to vote for Joe Biden for president. My mother, 89, is much more mentally competent but she is, thankfully, not a Democrat.

The conspiracy theories will be the death of this country. Get a grip!

Free medical care will work great as soon as doctors, hospitals and drug companies start giving away their products and services. Somehow I don’t to see this happening. Move to Cuba for a year and let us know how that works.

“Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) strongly supports Senator Sanders as the strongest candidate for President of the United States.

Volunteer with DSA and join us in saying: #WeNeedBernie!“. If he hadn’t been railroaded in 2016 by the DNC, Socialist Bernie, who spent his honeymoon in Moscow, would have been their candidate - and would have lost soundly to Trump as Mrs. Clinton did.

Ed Pieczynski

Don, this may come as a complete shock to you but no where in the world is health care FREE. I'm sure somewhere you have heard the phrase "there is no free lunch."

Dan Roman

For those who follow Kent's rants take a look at Carol Cipolla's "Five Fundamental Laws of Stupidity" and look up the Dunning-Kruger Effect. The two explain Kent and his worship of Trump perfectly.

"A stupid person is the most dangerous type of person."

Yes, they are the loudest and most obnoxious people. So much so that others just give up and walk away. We think they can be reasoned with but the more you object, the louder they get. Like self-centered children throwing a tantrum. They are so self-absorbed with huge egos they have no concept of caring for others, it's all about them.
