I am responding to a letter written titled “Political Observations” in the May 13 issue of The Pilot. How anyone can conclude that any political party is promoting socialism for the USA is just not paying attention.
The proposal that scares the ultra-right is free medical care for all, just like the rest of the world where the poor can also get health care. We are in a capitalist country now and the shelves are going empty in places. Is that the blame of capitalism? No, it’s a pandemic that was poorly planned for many decades.
I believe in a managed capitalism where all the money does not rise to the top 5 percent as we are seeing since the Great Depression. Aren’t we here to take care of each other?
To ask anyone to vote for a candidate blindly just because they have an “R,” “D” or “I” in front of their name is what is hurting our country. Ignorance prevails when we act out of blind loyalty. Remember Germany in 1938?
