I have read your recent articles and opinion on the subject of the Pinehurst comprehensive plan. You would make us believe that the village has conducted an open process that has taken to heart the opinions, interests and concerns of its residents.

Many of us differ with this view and actually believe the village’s staff and council are bent on quickly approving a preconceived plan that continues to foster population growth and new multi-family residential development as a way of accommodating such expansion.

I strongly disagree that: population growth at all costs is beneficial to current village residents; the draft comprehensive plan is a reflection of the residents’ wishes; and should be rushed through before the November election in an undemocratic effort to avoid public engagement with a critical topic for the village residents/voters.

I trust council candidates will, before the election, be forthcoming in their intended ownership of a plan in which they have had no input and which has clearly been timed to obviate their involvement.

This plan envisages 6,900 new residents in 10 years, a 41% increase over today, spoiling Pinehurst's rural boundary and adding further traffic to our key roads. All for maximizing tax revenue which will be insufficient for all the infrastructure investment needed to accommodate the thousands of new residents. Get your check books ready folks.
