As members of the Pinehurst Police Department Citizens Patrol we were surprised to receive a letter from Chief Phipps announcing his retirement this fall.

We have been involved with the Police Department for more than eight years, all under the able leadership of Chief Phipps. He has done a wonderful job leading this fine force. Pinehurst will miss him.

A few months ago Chief Phipps recruited Glen Webb as deputy chief. What an impressive leader he is. He brings management and police experience to the job. We are enjoying working with him. His past experience in Greenville, NC has prepared him for a further leadership role.

We are hopeful that the Village Council and management will look favorably on Deputy Chief Webb for the chief’s position. It would be a shame to not be able to take advantage of his experience.
