Onnie Burris Seago, 97, of Jackson Springs, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Kingswood Nursing Center, in Aberdeen, with her children by her side. She wanted to go home to be with her Savior.
She was born Feb. 1, 1922, in Stanley County, to Dewey Phillip Burris and Lottie Lena Almon Burris. She was the oldest of six daughters. She is survived by two sisters, Gurtie Harris, of Albemarle, and Hazel McLean, of Gastonia.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, John T. Seago; and her grandson, Mitchell Allen Seago, of Red Springs; sisters, Gladys Faulkner, Coelia Shaw and Helen McLaurin.
Onnie is survived by her daughter, Catherine Seago Peyton and husband, Martin, of Lansdale, Pa.; son, John Seago Jr., and wife, Martha, of Red Springs; and son, Roger L. Seago, of Pinebluff grandchildren, John Timothy Seago, (Bobbie), Michael Anthony Seago (Marissa), Christina Nicole Seago and Justin Dale Seago; great-grandmother, John Tyler Seago (Ann), Caitlin Brooke Seago, Mitchell Anthony Seago and Catherine Alissa Seago; great-granddaughter, Celena Aubrey Seago; and several special nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Seago was a 50-year-plus member of the Aberdeen Chapter No. 259, Order of the Eastern Star. She was employed at the FirstHealth Hospital in Pinehurst in dietary until her retirement.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 6, at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steven Turner officiating. Visitation was held at the church prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m.
