Luther Folger Hodges, 90, a resident of Whispering Pines, passed away in Lexington Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019.
Mr. Hodges was born Oct. 3, 1928, in Surry County to the late Floyd Herman and Lora E. Lawson Hodges. He worked for himself as a plumber for many years. Mr. Hodges was the caretaker of his family, and loved to spend time with them and his dogs. Mr. Hodges attended the Church of Christ in Aberdeen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth A. Porter Hodges; a son, Irvin F. Hodges; and several brothers and sisters.
Mr. Hodges is survived by two daughters, Jewell Stewart, of Lexington, and Diane E. Wood, and husband Jimmy, of Carthage; a sister, Gray Garrett, of Aberdeen; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 2 p.m. in the Church of Christ in Aberdeen with the Rev. Bob Mason and the Rev. Donnie Gillis officiating. Interment will follow the service in Old Bethesda Church Cemetery in Aberdeen. The family will greet friends prior to the service in the church beginning at 1 p.m.
