Eva Virginia Taylor, 97, of Southern Pines, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2020, at Penick Village.
She was born on Jan. 11, 1923, in Roper, to the late James and Eula Chesson. Eva enjoyed playing basketball in high school. During World War II, she worked for the selective service agency in Washington, D.C. before marrying the love of her life, Winslow W. Taylor, on July 14, 1950. After traveling the world extensively with the U.S. military, Eva and Winslow moved to and settled in at Pinehurst Trace in 1986. She was an active member with Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Southern Pines.
In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Winslow W. Taylor; one brother, James A. Chesson and one sister, Christine C. Clark.
She is survived by one sister, Carole C. Lyle; also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 21, at St. Luke’s/St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Roper.
