A 20-year old firefighter with the Spring Lake Fire Department was killed Friday evening in a head-on collision on N.C. 690 in Moore County. Spring Lake is located in Cumberland County, near Fayetteville.
According to a news release issued by the town of Spring Lake, Corbin Rogers was traveling on his way home from a ladder training session.
“We wish his family the swiftness of healing and grieving, and lift up our hands and hearts as we offer our prayers and any help that may be needed to make this tragedy more bearable,” stated Spring Lake Fire Chief Jason Williams. “We thank him, so gratefully, for his selfless service as a public servant, and his ultimate and untimely sacrifice. He will not be forgotten.”
A woman in the second vehicle involved in the accident was transported to Moore Regional Hospital for medical attention.
The accident is under investigation by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
