An internet fiber cut in the Benson area has resulted in service interruptions at many N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles driver license and license plate agency offices in east central and southeastern North Carolina.

According to a news release issued by the state Department of Transportation, the outages include areas from south of Raleigh, to the Fayetteville and Wilmington areas. The service interruption is also affecting some DMV online driver license and vehicle registration services.

The DMV Drivers License office and License Agency in Aberdeen have been impacted by the disruption.

Officials with NCDMV and the N.C. Dept. of Information Technology are working with Windstream to correct the problem as soon as possible. This morning’s fiber cut also briefly affected NCDMV‘s main call center in Bladen County but the call center is operating again.
