Gregory Elijuan Gay Jr.

Gregory Elijuan Gay Jr. is being sought by the Southern Pines Police Department.

An 18-year-old is wanted in connection with a slaying reported Monday at a Southern Pines apartment complex.

The Southern Pines Police Department has obtained a warrant charging Gregory Elijuan Gay Jr. with first-degree murder in a fatal shooting at Creston Commons Apartments. In a news release issued Tuesday, the agency said it was withholding the victim’s name to not “jeopardize the investigative process and future court prosecutions.”

According to the release, the shooting stemmed from a “domestic incident between the victim and suspect” in the 900 block of Talmadge Way.

The police department is asking the community for assistance locating Gay, who is 5 feet, 9 inches in height and weighs approximately 180 pounds. He should be considered “armed and dangerous,” the release said.

Anyone with information related to Gay’s whereabouts is asked to call the police department at (910) 692-7031, or the agency’s Investigation Division at (910) 693-1481. Information can also be provided by calling the police department’s crime tip hotline at (910) 693-4110.

The case marks the third homicide investigation announced this year in Moore County.

In October, Emmanuel Jonathan Reza, 20, was charged with second-degree murder and felony child abuse in the killing of his infant son in Robbins. Dallas Walters Jr., 48, was arrested in June after his roommate was found dead on Rollins Road in Vass.
