The Moore County Board of Education has appointed Daryl Jackson as interim principal of Aberdeen Primary School.
Jackson, who is currently the assistant principal at the school, will take over from Principal Dr. Molly Capps on March 1, 2019. Capps was recently named principal of the new Area I Elementary School on Camp Easter Road, scheduled to open fall of 2019. The school’s instructional coach, Dawn Vang, will assume the role as assistant principal.
“Mr. Jackson has excelled in each role he has held with Moore County Schools and has developed in to a strong school leader who possesses the skills to continue to serve our Aberdeen Primary School parents, staff and students at a high level,” said Tim Locklair, Moore County Schools Chief Officer of Academics and Student Support Services. “He will be instrumental in the upcoming consolidation process of both Aberdeen Primary and Aberdeen Elementary into one K-5 school scheduled to open fall of 2020 in Aberdeen.”
Jackson has been with Moore County Schools since 1993. A graduate of Pinecrest High School, he has held positions as a teacher assistant, and as 2nd and 3rd grade teacher at Aberdeen Elementary, Aberdeen Primary and West Pine Elementary Schools. He was appointed assistant principal at Aberdeen Primary in 2015. He has also served as a summer camp director and afterschool tutor with the Doyle D. Foundation in Pinehurst.
