With the current season, the Pinehurst Forum celebrates its 80th anniversary.

Founded in 1939, the Pinehurst Forum is one of the oldest continuing institutions in the Sandhills. Dedicated to the sharing of entertainment, good food and camaraderie, the Forum continues to delight its record 380 members members with top-notch entertainment at the Cardinal Ballroom of the Carolina Hotel in Pinehurst.

This year’s entertainment includes Rumours, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band; Brass Transit; Emile Pandolfi; and tributes to Elton John and Franki Valli.

The only black tie membership group in the area, with a six-meeting schedule running from October through March, the Forum began when Pinehurst had a population of less than 3,000 people.  Early membership included James Walker Tufts and Donald Ross.  Especially in the 1970s, media and political celebrities such as Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw and Hodding Carter III graced its stage. In more recent years, the Forum has focused on great dinner entertainment such as The Four Aces, The Platters and The Ink Spots.

The Forum produces a handsome “Playbill” each year, featuring high profile sponsors from the Pinehurst area.  Friends of the Forum now represent more than half the total membership.
