ARTworks Vass will host a Final Friday opening and preview party for “100@$100@ARTworksVass,” an event that will debut a collection of more than 100 affordable works of art in all mediums, on Friday, July 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. The evening’s festivities will also include demonstrations, refreshments, door prizes and more.

Included in Friday’s debut will be more than 100 pieces that are destined for an online auction that’s scheduled to begin on Facebook on Saturday, July 27, at 8 a.m. Each piece in this auction will have an opening bid set at $100; bid increments of $5; and a slightly higher “buy it now” (BIN) price that’s been set by each artist. During the live preview party, collectors will have the chance to view all of the works in person, and also the first chance to purchase them at their BIN prices.

Also at Friday’s debut, a special independent collection of works by the artists will be available at the discounted price of $100 each. This represents a significant discount from the market price of each piece; no pre-sales of these $100 selections will be offered; and shopping will commence at exactly 5 p.m.

Those in attendance on Friday will also have the opportunity to meet many of the featured artists while watching them work, including Jodi Ohl (acrylic painting), Amy Smith (acrylic painting and collage), Rick Martinez (acrylic mixed media abstracts), Kathleen Miller (decorative painting), Julie Borshak (sewing and furniture alteration), Beth Roy (oil painting), Ken McNeill (acrylic painting), Diane Flanegan (stained glass), Rich Flanegan (chalk pastels), Debbie Keen (lampworking and jewelry making), and Jean Skipper (metalsmithing and jewelry making).

Jean Skipper, owner of ARTworks Vass explains, “At the core of this event is our gratitude for the collectors who support us. In an age where so much is mass produced and imported, they recognize the beauty in fine art and handcrafted creations, the emotional investment that our artists make in each piece that they create, and the economic impact of small businesses and arts related endeavors in our community.

“Our appreciation for them runs deep, and we hope that this event will allow our experienced patrons to add to their collections at bargain prices, while new collectors learn that an investment in original artwork can be a joy-filled adventure that doesn’t have to break their budgets. As our business has grown, and thanks to social media, our audience has expanded beyond Vass, Moore County and North Carolina. Guests regularly travel from across the country with ARTworks Vass as their destination for retreats and classes. They meet our artists; they grow to love them and our community; and they continue their support of us virtually after they return to their homes. We’re equally grateful for them, and we hope that the online portion of 100@$100@ARTworksVass them to participate too.”

The full body of work from this collection may be viewed in person at ARTworks Vass through 5 p.m. Saturday, July 27. The online auction portion of 100@$100@ARTworks Vass will close on Sunday, July 28, at 8 p.m.

Located at 129 Main St. in Vass, ARTworks Vass is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., with other hours by chance, appointment or during special events and classes. Additional information may be found online at www.ARTworksVass.com, on their Facebook page, by emailing info@ARTworksVass.com, or by calling (910) 245-4129.
