Summer is the perfect time for kids to awaken their inner chef with Sonia Middleton, chef and chief instructor of Sonia’s Bilingual Kitchen in Whispering Pines.
Middleton gears her hands-on instruction around everything from essential kitchen hacks and safety, to selecting healthy foods, to table manners and plating techniques. The classes are taught in English and Spanish, taking students on a global journey with each recipe to “enlighten the palettes of young chefs.”
And her classes aren’t only for kids.
“If you are looking to learn new things so that you can spice up your kitchen or perhaps you want to learn to dice, slice and chop using the correct knife, my bilingual classes are the missing ingredient in your recipe for better and more confident cooking,” she said.
Middleton moved to Moore County with her family in 2009, and soon began teaching both private and group cooking classes. Her kids weeklong summer cooking classes begin May 27. The cost is $150 per week and most classes run 10 a.m.-1 p.m, or 2-5 p.m.
