Jean Singleton Robbins

Jean Singleton Robbins, of Aberdeen, celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at a reception given by her family at the Pinehurst Country Club.

Mrs. Robbins was born Sept. 30, 1918, in Candor, to Lena and Marvin Singleton. She moved to Aberdeen in 1941 after graduating from Appalachian State University in Boone. She taught in the Aberdeen and Southern Pines schools for 30 years.

In 1943 she married J.C. Robbins, of Aberdeen, where they raised their four children, Alice, Martha, Joseph and Edith.

As an active member of Page Memorial Methodist Church for over 70 years, she has chaired many church committees and has also participated in the Sandhills Book Club, the Aberdeen Home and Garden Club, and the UDC. She attributes her longevity to active commitments to her family, church and community.

Her birthday is being celebrated by her children, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many friends from the area.
