This article is not factual. McDonald brothers did not go out of business. They sold it to Monroe Hardware and changed the name to Belk Building Supply. Monroe Hardware has been around for over a century and is owned by the Belk family which also owns Belk department stores.

The article really should not reference McDonald Brothers.

@ Whoa - You are partially correct. McDonald Brothers did not go OUT of business. They filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy!!! Had it not been for the protection of Chapter 11, it is certain that they would have been/went out of business in short order. One can deduce this by looking at the bankruptcy papers available online. If anyone lost in this deal, it is the creditors with unsecured debt who were owed thousands of dollars plus some.
To clarify the truth again, the writer of this article Ted Natt, Jr. chose to mention McDonald Brothers in his article. It is my understanding that the men at Locust Lumber made a request to the writer and asked him to remove the sentence about McDonald Brothers. Kudos to them for taking the initiative to dispel any negative talk/rumors.
As a Moore County native, I welcome any improvement and new business to our county and wish both Belk and Locust Lumber Company the very best.
