by loumer Those of us who are professional city planners and historic preservationists fight uphill battles everyday across the country. If a church is involved we almost always lose in the end. The Village Chapel is just that - a village chapel. It was always meant for non-denominational worship for visitors and residents of Pinehurst. It does not need to expand to include a Learning Center. Use existing facilities such as schools, neighboring churches, community centers and the like. It's a CHAPEL for God's sake, not a cathedral or mega-church. Pinehurst doesn't know what a treasure it has in the Village designed by the Olmstead firm. The Village Green was designed and preserved for a public purpose. It should remain that way. Thousands of cities across the Nation would give anything to have such a beautiful public village center. This was an excellent response to the Village Chapel decision.

I agree! Why disturb this beautiful setting...enough disruption with the widening of Hwy 211....it will no longer be a "Village Chapel" or a "Village" for that matter.
