I have recently moved to the area and need a good vet. Our old vet was like Dr. Dolittle and my dog was always happy to see the him (even to get shots!). The vets office was small and pets never had to wait in the waiting room together so it was always a calm experience. The vet was gentile and very thorough. He took time to explain any procedure, diagnosis and medicine to me.
Since moving we have visited a new office twice and it has been awful. Many animals sitting in the waiting room, rushed vet that didn't take any time with me or with the dog and a very rough exam that exacerbated my dogs injury.
Can anyone recommend a vet? If you have one that you recommend please let me know what you like about them.
Thanks!

I can wholeheartedly recommend Pinetree Veterinary on Route 5. The doctors are compassionate and kind. My dog has never had to wait with other animals in the waiting room and is never put up on the examine table. The vets all get down on the floor to examine her, which is great as she has arthritis in her hips and it is painful for her to be lifted or jump up. The staff is also wonderful! I've never had a problem getting an appointment whether for a regular check-up or for an emergency visit and Dr. Isreal had no problem referring me to a specialist when she couldn't pin point what was wrong. All in all, the best veterinary experience I have every had.

Pinetree is good and closer to me than Carthage Animal Hosp. but the prices are much higher there so its worth the drive for me to go to Carthage

Dr. Watson at Pinetree is the kindest, most caring vet we've ever met!!! Our pet who was not fond of going to doctors, fell in love with him. Dr. Watson has such a good rapport with animals and knows his stuff!!! When Mitsy was on her last legs a few years ago, Doctor Watson took good care of her and Mitsy lived a happy and healthy final year until her her time had come. I'm glad Dr. Watson was with her at the end which helped us tremendously. All the staff at Pinetree deserve medals for their caring kindness.

We have always used Dr. Lyerly at the Whispering Pines Animal Hospital. We've been going for close to nine years now. She loves our sweetheart and always takes time for thorough explanations. We love WPAH!

I use to live in Sanford and used the Willow Creek Animal Hospital. Now that I live in Whispering Pines, I still drive the 20 minnutes to Sanford to use Willow Creek. Everyone there is incredibly nice. Yes, there is waiting sometimes but once you get in to see the doc it's great. Dr. Schaller genuinely cares about your pets. She is even on call 24hrs a day and will answer any questions on the weekends. They also provide kenneling services. My 2 Labs love it there!

I would highly recommend Pinetree Animal on Hyw #5 in Aberdeen. Dr Watson is the GREATEST an Dr Melissa is also GREAT. The office help is WONDERFUL an if there is a emergency they will get you right in. Our little Shizu has gone there for 14 years she sometimes even pretends to cant walk on her leg just to get to go see them. We drive up an she is ready to get out of car an runs to door to get in. She has had cancer and was quickly referred to a vet that specalizes in cancer an had an appt. there in 2 days. She has underwent chemo an has been cancer free for 14 months thanks to Dr. Watson an Dr. K at the Vet in Cary. Try them I think you will be very satisfied.

Anyone had to use the emergency vet?
remi 2 years, 4 months ago
I have had to use the emergency vet clinic on Rt. 1 several times since moving here and I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever. They treat your pet as if it was their own and in an emergency you want to feel someone really cares about your pet. The doctors there are wonderful as are all the staff members. You get the feeling they are treating one of their own pets. Have no worry about going there. Remi

Yes. 3 times. Each one an expensive, bad experience. As far as I know, all the Vets in Moore County refer their customers to the EM Vet on 1 after 5 . It has forced me to search for a new Vet. Hate to change after all these years, but can't believe a Vet that would refer me to that place has my animals best interest in mind. I will be contacting Willow Creek from the above post. I've also heard of a Dr Brown in Seagrove. My kids are well worth the drive.

Yes, many times for my senior spaniel and the care was life saving. They are so good to animals and owners. They correctly diagonosed his problem and prescribed meds that have restored his health and quality of life, when his regular vet could not. I cannot say enough kind words about them. And the fees are fair for the high level of care the animals require.

We see Dr Norland at Yadkin Park Animal Hospital. He is very caring, knowledgable, takes the time to listen to your concerns, and gives suggestions for care. Usually they are not too busy with a lot of animals in the waiting room at the same time, but on occasion it happens. They have friendly and professional staff who really care about animals.

I have been EXTREMELY pleased with my vet, Dr. Mari Ellen Brown. Her office is in West End, NC in Moore County. I have a dog with a rare autoimmune disease that Dr. Brown is treating. I was previously told by 2 other vets that my dog might need to be euthanized. I took her to Dr. Brown 4 years ago and I am pleased to say that she is 13 years old and is well and happy! More recently, I had an emergency with my cat. Dr. Brown diagnosed her with diabetes. Dr. Brown has walked me through the difficult steps of feline diabetes and she is hoping that Jewels will soon go into remission. Dr. Brown and the staff at Targhee Animal Hospital are amazing and are dedicated to loving and caring for animals. Shadow, my big black cat, loves visiting Dr. Brown. He is another one of her miracle patients! You can check out their website: www.pinehurstvets.com. 910-420-2890. I think you will be pleased with their rates too.
Best wishes,
Lisa and Jewels

I would also recommend PineTree Animal Hospital on route 5 in Aberdeen. Dr Whitehead takes excellent care of our three cats.....although in fairness I am a bit biased, Dr Whitehead is my wife :)...seriously I'm all for making sure your pets are under veterinary care, no matter who you choose. For many (like us) our pets are our children and should be given the best care possible. Such as not being chained to a tree and left without shelter or abused because they bark

Dr. Elizabeth Lyerly is my vet and she is an absolute sweetheart and an experienced and knowledgable vet. Several years ago, my elderly little Chi went into cardiac arrest. Whispering Pines Animal Hospital was the "on call" vet for the night. I rushed to get there, but he passed away on the way. I was distraught and heartbroken. Dr. Lyerly met me there and stayed with me for about a half hour and let me say my goodbyes. She talked to me and comforted me. Afterwards, she never even charged me for coming into the office and I only paid for the cremation fee. That was the first time I met her and she has been my vet ever since. She is so kind and caring and cares not only for the animals but also their owners. I cannot recommend her highly enough!
