Last week, I finally put up a "respectable" performance by going 19 of 21 (90.5%), which brings my season mark to 49-11 (81.7%).

Yadkin Valley 1A Conference teams still trip me up. I was surprised by Parkwood's win over South Stanly and East Surry defeating West Montgomery in overtime.

There was one game amongst last week's wins which really didn't take place, as East Montgomery was supposed to have hosted the Panthers of KIPP Pride . In the Panthers previous game versus 2A Pasquotank, a 38-14 loss, 1A KIPP Pride played with only 10 players in the entire second half because of injuries. And, because of not having enough players available to participate, KIPP Pride, located in Gaston (off I-95 near the Virginia border), decided not to make the four-hour trip to Biscoe. I hope the Panthers of KIPP Pride will be able to continue with the remainder of their football season.

In this week's CarolinaPreps.com Top 10 Polls, Richmond Senior (3-0) moves up from #2 to #2 this week. Matthews Butler (3-0) remains on top of the 4A poll. Fellow Southeastern 4A member Hoke County makes an appearance at #9. In the 3A poll, Douglas Byrd (3-0) drops from #5 to #6. Northern Guilford is this week's #1 3A team. And, in the 1A poll, Albemarle (3-0) moves up to the top spot from #2 last week, and North Rowan (2-1) returns to the 1A Top 10 at #8.

Finally, this week's "Game of the Week" will be another good one, as current Scotland coach Richard Bailey makes a visit to his ol' stomping grounds, as the Fighting Scots (2-1) travel to The Boneyard in Fayetteville to take on Jack Britt (3-0), ranked #8 in this weeks CarolinaPreps.com 4A poll. Emotions will be running high in this matchup.

Hmmmm ... The Pilot did not put any previews of tonight's (Fri., 9/7) high school football games on the web ... Wonder why???
