9-1 (90%) again??? Well, this is the third week in the row. Seems like Pine Forest, victors over Douglas Byrd last Friday night, is always throwing a wrench in the my efforts of trying to put together a perfect record for the week. The season record now stands at 110-22 (83.3%). Two more weeks of the regular season, plus the playoffs, and hopefully I'll hit 85% for the season's end.

In conference races, Albemarle (5-0, 8-1) holds an advantage over North Rowan (4-1, 6-3) and South Stanly (4-1, 7-2) in the chase for the Yadkin Valley1A Conference title chase. Gray's Creek (4-0, 7-2) has the edge over Douglas Bryd (3-1, 6-3) and Overhills (3-1, 4-4) in the Cape Fear Valley 3A Conference. And, in the Southeastern 4A Conference, Richmond Senior (3-0, 8-0) and Scotland (3-0, 7-1) are tied for first in the league standings and they'll probably decide the conference championship in Rockingham one week from this Friday. Pinecrest (2-1, 5-4) is holding the third spot in the conference title chase. Still lots of football yet to be played and all sorts of things could happen the next few weeks.

Checking the CarolinaPreps.com polls, Swain County (8-0) continues to hold the top spot in 1A while Albemarle moves up a spot from #6 to #5. Northern Guilford (8-0) remains #1 in 3A while no Cape Fear Valley conference teams are in the Top 10 this week. Matthews Butler is #1 in the 4A polls, while Richmond Senior drops from #2 to #3, and Scotland stays at #6.

This weeks "Game of the Week" could have an impact on the YVC 1A title race as West Montgomery (3-2, 5-4) visits North Rowan. Folks in Stanly County, especially around Albemarle and Norwood will most likely be pulling for the Warriors as a West Montgomery win will most likely throw North Rowan, Albemarle and South Stanly in a three-way tie in the conference race heading into the final week of the regular season.
