Well, last week was a repeat of the week before going 9-1 (90%) again. South View surprising Gray's Creek kept me from having a perfect record last week. The overall season mark now stands at 101-21 (82.8%). It's still hard to believe that this is week #9. November and the state playoffs will be here before you know it.

In this week's CarolinaPreps.com polls, Matthews Butler (7-0) remains #1 in the 4A poll while Richmond Senior (7-0) follows at #2. Scotland (6-1) remains at #6. In the 3A poll, Northern Guilford (7-0) still holds on to the top spot. No Cape Fear Valley 3A teams are in the Top to 3A poll this week. In the 1A poll, Swain County (8-0) remains at #1, while Albemarle (7-1) moves up from #6 to #5.

This week 's Game of the Week will be Scotland traveling up U.S. 401 to Raeford to take on Hoke County (7-1). There's no telling what may happen when these two rivals get together. Also, these two schools were what separated the 4A and 4AA state playoff brackets as Hoke County had three students more than their neighbors to the south. The main basis for the 'A' and 'AA' brackets is that the largest schools in a classification play in the 'AA' bracket. More about the playoffs and ADM (average daily membership) numbers coming up in a few weeks as the playoffs get closer.
