Another sub-par week is in the books. Went 9-3 (75%) bringing the season mark to 136-28 (82.9%). North Rowan, Douglas Byrd and Western Alamance kept me from achieving a perfect mark.

Looking at various scores through out the state, there were a few blowouts, including a few in our backyard, and a few surprises. But hey, this is high school layoff football. What else do you expect?

Checking out this week;s CarolinaPreps.com Top 10 polls, Swain County (12-0) stays at #1 while Albemarle stays at #3. In 3A, Northern Guilford (11-0) holds the top spot. Matthews Butler remains at the top of the 4A poll, while Scotland remains at #5 and Richmond Senior stays at #8.

This week's "Game of the Week" will be Hoke County (9-2) visiting Jack Britt (10-1). The Bucks had a much closer game than they expected last week versus Pinecrest as compared to the regular season ending blowout. Jack Britt has been a surprise to me after Richard Bailey left to take over at Scotland and most of his assistant coaches moving on elsewhere. Britt's only loss was to Mid-South 4A Conference champion, E.E. Smith. I hope that Hoke County is not looking ahead to a rematch with Richmond Senior next week.
