The Reuben Davis Blog: Getting Ready for the 2012 High School Football Season

Well, it's time for another season of high school football. For myself and lots of other folks it's the most exciting time of the year. Also, it's the beginning of the school year, as well as college and pro football also getting ready. And as Hank, Jr. would say, "Are you ready for some football?"
This is my third season on thepilot.com giving you my predictions as well as other insights and information that The Pilot sports crew just doesn't offer. Now, even though I don't always see everything "eye-to-eye" with Hunter Chase and the gang, but, I feel like I do get along with most everyone OK, at least most of the time anyway.
Last season I went 84.4% on all my area conference picks, as well as going 93.8% on games only involving Moore County teams. I'm hoping I'll go 90% on all games and shoot for 100% on games involving North Moore, Union Pines and Pinecrest. And if I fall short, oh well, no big deal. Of course, I do like to set my goals high, and I hope our local high school football teams will do likewise. Hopefully this season will be competitive instead of being anything like the most recent competition in Olympic women's doubles badminton.
As for what this season will bring, I'm not expecting anything great out of our local teams, but maybe they will surprise the heck out of me. But considering last season, I'm not getting my hopes up.
Coming up in the near future, I'll have my regular season predictions for the Yadkin Valley 1A, Cape Fear Valley 3A and Southeastern 4A conferences. Stay tuned, the 2012 high school football season is just getting started!
