Welcome to The RD28327 Blog. I am RD and I do live in the 28327 zip code. For the longest time, Hunter Chase and Franco Manning have been wanting me to do a blog. Well, here I am. I had no idea of what I would do with this blog. Sounded like the easiest thing to talk about would be sports, high school sports to be specific. Of course, I'm the one who keeps Franco, Charlie and Patrick (and sometimes Hunter and Tom) on their toes about things in high school sports happening statewide as well as things happening statewide that impact Moore County.
Been thinking about this blog thing all summer, and heck, this is the perfect time to start it: high school football season. Next week, I will bring out my 2010 season predictions. Then after that, weekly predictions involving teams from the Yadkin Valley 1A, Cape Fear Valley 3A, and Southeastern 4A conferences, of which our Moore County public high schools are members. And, I'll continue this all the way through the playoffs and hopefully up to the state title games.
As far as my predictions go, I've been doing this on ncpreps.com and carolinapreps.com for a few years now. I'm not gonna toot my own horn about how accurate or good I am, but, I do OK. Of course, not everyone is gonna like my predictions. Though I am a Union Pines alumnus, I will not pick UP to win every game. I also will not pick Pinecrest and North Moore to win every game this season either. And North Moore fans may not like me at all before the season begins. Neither will some UP and PC fans. But, keep in mind I just pick'em just for the fun for it. I'm not expecting to get rich from this.
As for what the season might bring, I think it will be "business as usual" in the Yadkin Valley 1A and Cape Fear Valley 3A conferences. I do think things will be very exciting in the Southeastern 4A, as "parity" will be the buzzword through out the conference, and anyone can beat anyone on any given night.
So, that's all I will share with you for now. Check back with me next week for my 2010 high school football season predictions!
