Well, it took almost nine full days before Oreo the cat was rescued from the tree she had gotten stuck in. Over the weekend I received a voice mail message from the family letting me know the news.

For those who are interested, the fire department can come out to help, but the firefighters I spoke with last week told me that they often can be more harm than help. The noise and commotion caused when they bring a ladder truck out often causes the treed cat to react in one of two ways: climb higher or jump.

I also spoke to a local man who has a tree service who offered his help.

Turns out the neighbors helped rescue Oreo from her predicament.

I'll have more on the story soon.

Tom, a follow-up story would be great. There are a lot of animal-lovers in Moore County who would like to read about the sequence of events and of course the happy ending with Oreo. They say a cat has 9 lives, but 9 days in a tree? Wow!

We could all use a non-political feel good story!
