I should completely pluck/shave my eyebrows and then DRAW them back on

Blog: Shave my eyebrows!

Ladies: Don't you just love it when you are out wandering around in the store or whereever and you see a woman who has done this? I am always amazed. I don't get it. I understand the need to tame some wild hairs, but what happened? Did they go overboard with the tweezing? Did they fall in the bathroom and hit the razor with their face? Once on each side? Are they afraid of those eyebrown hairs? Why don't they pluck out all of their eyelashes too? (Well, there's a name for that.) Are you one of these women? Is it a cultural thing? I would say no, since I have seen whites, blacks, hispanics, and asian women all do this. If YOU have done this, please tell me...WHY?

Guys: Is this attractive to you? Turn you on at all? Do you look at this and say 'Dang, that's HOT'? Or does it just catch your attention, in a bad way, but then you keep looking and say 'well the rest of her is alright.' Do us Non-Eyebrow-Pluckers need to pluck a little, or all of it? Does it matter what their drawn-on brows look like, or if the lines are thin or thick, curved, or crooked as hell? Please chime in.

Also, sometimes we can't tell if you are male or female by your names, so please add that bit of info also. =)

It puzzles me. Also the tattoed brow thing is a little weird. I am a skin care specialist, so I design brows for a living. The eyes are the first thing that we usually focus on when we meet someone, so eyebrows are going to be instantly noticed, (unless you have a strange piercing or have dyed your hair pink or something). I am always noticing eyebrows. I hate the trend of thin overplucked brows. Few can carry this well. It makes someone look anxious and it ages the face. I remember when I was in school for skin care and some of the younger girls attending class had crazy drawn on eyebrows, drag queen makeup and false eyelashes for days! Sure it was a fun look, but not really something I would want to do every day ad nausem.

So I would say, shaved drawn on eyebrows are definitely NOT hot!

Bizarre looking. Clownish-like that dude from Twisted Sister. Another favorite of mine is the black lipliner phenomenon-they do not blend it, they just "draw" it on. Makes me wonder if they own a mirror. They must think they look hot. When someone has drawn on eyebrows they look so old and tired. I can't help but stare at those brows and those black lined lips! Not good.

I have to agree with greentara13 on this one...NOT HOT!! She hit it right on the nose with the drag queen reference!! As I guy, I prefer women who wear little to no make up and seeing the over plucked or tattoed/drawn-in brows (or a ghastly unibrow) tends to make me look the other way. A women who has natural and well sculpted brows is very attractive to me as I do tend to notice the eyes first!!

And just to be fair, I do get my brows plucked every so often..a little "manscaping" now and then doesn't hurt, and my girlfriend approves!!

Absolutely clownish. Ive often wondered the same thing. Did they start and just forget where to stop? I am a guy and I have plucked just a few between the two brows but thats about as far as I go. Thanks for the smile. I thought maybe I was the only one who thought this way. :)

Does any establisment/salon in the area do the brow threading ? (no, they don't sew your eyebrows on as was my first thought!LOL). I heard that the results are really nice.

there is a lady that comes in the office about once every two weeks or so...she doesnt shave her "real" eyebrow off, but she draws another way above it, and she puts foundation over the real one...like she's trying to hide it.....its always puzzled me....i dont get it either...its weird to when you see someone that does have the drawn on shaved off look going on...but they have rubbed it at some point and smeared it a little....oh well...

What's up with all you Andy Rooney haters??? Not only are overly bushy eyebrows awsome, they can be useful too. Get 'em long enough, you can comb them straight back to help conceal that male pattern baldness. A comb-back-over if you will... Who needs a forhead anyway? Right Judge Napalitano (Fox News)

Okay oi812, this brings up yet another topic, "Bad comb-overs". Why do we always point these out as a "Bad comb-over" when someone who is follicley challenged attempts to hide their condition? I mean, have you or anyone else ever seen a "Good comb-over"? I don't think so. Before anyone asks, yes my hairline has performed a French charge, it advanced to the rear and I now proudly bare my naked forehead to the world! Maybe I could draw some hair on? Or that spray can stuff? Anyone got any spare shag carpet and a glue gun? Is the bar open yet?

I don't know any one here that does the threading. I have had it done in Raleigh. Loved the results the first time. The second time, same girl but she made them too thin. I went around for 3 weeks looking surprised. Just so you know, it does hurt more than waxing. Waxing is usually a couple a strips and you are done. This takes a little more time and it stung!

I agree...the overplucked look is scary! Some of these ladies have overwaxed for years and the hair won't grow back so they resort to funky lines or permanent tattoos. The thing is though, they don't have to use dark pencils to draw them in or enroll in clown makeup school. They could use a more natural color and maybe get away with it (probably not). Problem is, nobody is brave enough to tell them they look bad.

Nobody mentioned that eyebrows can fall out during chemotherapy. Maybe the poor woman with the painted-on eyebrows was also wearing a wig.

Eh, I think all makeup and "fashion" is pretty stupid, so it's just one more goofy thing amongst the rest of it.

OldSpook-my chemistry teacher way back in high school had a terrible "comb over". First of all, his part was way down near the top of his ear and somehow he had this crazy long strand that he coiled around his head with hairspray-probably AquaNet. I remember being mesmerized while I watched the strand slowly uncoil as he wrote with great purpose on the chalkboard. As he started getting into the lesson, his head would shake with great vigor and he would turn back and forth from the chalkboard to the rest of the classroom with jerky movements. We would all watch his head waiting for the avalanche of hair. Once, instead of unraveling, it flopped over like a fuzzy lid-I was laughing so hard I almost fell off my stool!!!

I know this was like two years ago, but I'm going to comment anyway. So, honestly I think that eyebrows drawn on are really cool. I was thinking of doing mine like that too,but it really is your personal opinion.Well anyway my point is don't listen to the other people, if you want your eyebrows like that do it! Don't let anyone stop you. You cares about what other people think you know? You have a life go live it. Don't let other "D-Bags" and "Sterotype Minded People" get in your way. Basically "Eff" Society.

By the way, I'm a girl.
