Pinecrest High School Class of 1971 - 40th Year Reunion

July 29-30, 2011, at Little River Golf & Resort 500 Little River Farm Blvd., Carthage, NC 28327

Did the number shock you? Almost 40 years have passed since we marched into the courtyard at Pinecrest High School and received our diplomas! This milestone is worth celebrating! So we, the Reunion Committee, have planned a grand, memorable weekend that you will not want to miss. Below is the planned schedule:

• Friday, July 29th – 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. (Optional) Meet and Greet at Little River Golf & Resort – Derby’s Ale House

• Saturday, July 30th – 6:00 P.M. – 8:30 P.M. Banquet Dinner at Little River Golf & Resort – Buckingham Room

• Saturday, July 30th – 9:00 P.M. – Midnight Dance and Mingle to the “Oldies but Goodies” of OUR generation!

• Ticket Price: $60 (without guest); $95 (with guest)

The committee is working very hard to plan a reunion that will be both meaningful and memorable. Each ticket includes the Banquet Dinner, Cash Bar, and a Memory Booklet with classmate biographies. A keepsake shirt may also be purchased for an additional $10.

We have created a Facebook page: Pinecrest High Class of 1971. Everyone, please join our page, and if you are not into computers, please ask a close family member or friend to help you so you can keep up to date on any changes to the event details.

Biography Information for the Memory Book (and T-Shirt Ordering):

While RSVP/purchasing your ticket, click on your yearbook photo to enter some biography information. Tell us about yourself, and we will use this information in the Memory Booklet to let all attendees know what is going on in your life. For those of you who are ordering T-shirts, use the Misc area to enter your desired T-shirt size(s).

Purchasing Tickets by Check:

We are encouraging EVERYONE to order by credit card to help the committee in handling funds for the reunion. If you have to pay by check, please make your check to PHS Class of 1971 and mail to: Linda Waddell Monroe, PO Box 1583, Pinehurst, NC 28370. Please include a note with your name (& guest name), address, phone #, and e-mail address.

Travel Accommodations:

Little River Golf & Resort has 5-person villas available for our reunion. Each villa has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, with a living area (w/ pull-out couch) and kitchen. The cost per villa is $150 per night. To reserve your villa, call toll free (888) 766-6538. Make your reservations early! It would be so nice if the Class of ’71 could have the whole resort this weekend! Call one of your old friends and share a villa for the weekend. Imagine getting together and catching up with everything since the last reunion in 2001! For those who prefer to stay in the Southern Pines/Aberdeen area or only need one room, we secured a rate of $80 at the Holiday Inn Express, the newest motel/hotel in the area, at 155 Partner Circle, Southern Pines, NC. Call (910) 693-2280 and ask for the Pinecrest High Reunion rate. Reservations may be made from now through July 10, 2011.

Those who would like to schedule Tee Times at Little River Golf & Resort must contact Ms. Bobbi Scarboro to get our reunion rate of $61. Please contact our classmates - We are getting any younger, but our numbers are growing smaller!!!!

A little over 30 days until our 40th reunion and sadly do I bring these numbers to ya'll: Pinecrest High School Class of 1971 had over 300 students Approx. 32 deceased since high school Approx. 36 students Sarah and her group are unable to contact Approx. 36 total (as of 10 am Sunday 6-26-2011) paid attendees to our 40th reunion This includes 13 paid guest As posted by Sarah on Facebook, Classmates, blogged in The Pilot the last day to register i July 11 "Everyone has to register for the reunion; no walk-ins will be allowed during the week-in. All attendees must be on the paid registration list." "Registration has been extended to July 11, 2011". As I understand there will be no walk-ins at the reunion - only pre-registered will be allowed in the reunion. Please find time to come back to Southern Pines area and see old friends!! BUG .
