The Pilot Sports Team has enlisted the help of Union Pines' senior wrestler Mike Brennan, to keep a trip journal so fans and readers can stay updated on how the boys' excursion is progressing.

In his junior year Mike wrestled at 160-pounds for U.P. winning the Cape Fear Valley Conference Championship and placing third in the state at the NCHSAA 3A state wrestling tournament.

What follows is the seventh entry in an on-going online journal Mike is keeping and will add to throughout UPHS Wrestling's 2011 summer camp trip:

Day 8, July 11, 11:06 p.m.

Being our first day at camp, we got a taste of what the remainder of week was going to be like. Every day is an early morning, so we can catch a good breakfast to fuel up for an intense day of camp.

The sessions are structured with a 50 minutes technique, followed by dual matches. I have always enjoyed the technique here because you get a choice of what position you want to work on. There are 3 different stations for standing, top and bottom. In my opinion, this is one of the most well run and efficient camp I've ever attended. They definitely keep up coming back.

After the technique we had some tough dual matches. Thankfully we won all four duals. The most exciting of which being with a top level Virginia team. It came down to Adrian and I and we both pinned our opponents; Adrian in the 3rd period and mine in overtime. I believe the final score was 31-33. This is impressive seeing as we are giving up 2 forfeits at 215 and heavyweight.

Now we're resting up for tomorrow and we'll most likely wrestle some tougher teams than we did today. Despite the intensity of this camp, everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.
