The Pilot Sports Team has enlisted the help of Union Pines' senior wrestler Mike Brennan, to keep a trip journal so fans and readers can stay updated on how the boys' excursion is progressing.

In his junior year Mike wrestled at 160-pounds for U.P. winning the Cape Fear Valley Conference Championship and placing third in the state at the NCHSAA 3A state wrestling tournament.

What follows is the sixth entry in an on-going online journal Mike is keeping and will add to throughout UPHS Wrestling's 2011 summer camp trip:

Day 7, July 10, 11:05 p.m.

We departed the Vondruska's at 8 this morning and made the 5 hour drive to Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.By the time we checked into the dorm and unpacked it was time for the technique session lead by Max Askren (NCAA champion) and Ben Askren (2x NCAA champion).

Both of the Askren brothers are known for their ability to scramble. They turn normally unfavorable positions with a low success rate into opportunities to score. It is very hard to understand unless you see it personally. This unorthodox, or "funky" style has brought both of them great success.

After they went over some scrambling basics for about 2 hours we were off to dinner, and there was a rare opportunity for us when we returned.

In the Bucknell wrestling gym there were some awesome matches being lined up. We got to see All-Americans and world team members go at it.The most exciting match was the first official match between the Askren brothers. They fought back and forth in some really impressive scrambles. In the end Max got the win 4-3.

Tomorrow morning we wrestle a few dual meets, so we are currently resting up for that.
