The Pilot Sports Team has enlisted the help of Union Pines' senior wrestler Mike Brennan, to keep a trip journal so fans and readers can stay updated on how the boys' excursion is progressing.

In his junior year Mike wrestled at 160-pounds for U.P. winning the Cape Fear Valley Conference Championship and placing third in the state at the NCHSAA 3A state wrestling tournament.

What follows is the second entry in what will be an on-going online journal Mike will add to throughout UPHS Wrestling's 2011 summer camp trip:

Day 3, July 6, 8:16 p.m.

Thankfully today we got to sleep in a little later than yesterday.

After waking up at around 8:30 a.m. and a quick breakfast, we embarked on the mile jog to Huntington Beach. While we were there we got a couple of beach wrestling matches going with a makeshift circle in the sand.

At about 11 a.m. we headed back to the Vondruska's for a quick lunch before our next camp session.

This session featured Logan Steiber again and JD Bergman.

JD is one of the best international wrestlers the US has to offer. He is training to compete in the London Olympics in 2012. He's a bigger guy; he competes at 84 kilos.

It was good to learn some techniques from a big guy's perspective. I even got a chance to get tossed around by JD twice during the live wrestling portion of the session.

Following the session, there was a scrimmage, and we all at least got a few matches with some solid kids. There were some state qualifiers from Ohio and even a couple state placers in the mix.

Now we are finally back at the Vondruska's again after a long day to hang out and eat some pizza.
