Davidson College will no longer serve Chick-fil-A meals at late-night events until the student union holds a public hearing on the founder's stance on same-sex marriage. Davidson regularly rates way up there on lists of forward-thinking liberal arts colleges. Good for them. I abhor mixing politics/religion with consumerism, especially on a large scale. I've spoken to people who agree with Big Chicken Cathy's opinion but don't wand a retail referendum. I pass Chick almost every day; haven't seen a crowd since "appreciation day" suggested by Mike Huckabee and endorsed by Sarah Palin (who no longer has a horse the race but tries desperately to keep her profile high, should a TV producer be watching). Never heard whether the backlash "kiss-in" reached Moore County or whether this was a single news cycle story. But I predict that customers who don't want a side of politics with their tenders will drive an extra mile to KFC, Bojangles or Hardee's. However, maybe Chick will get catering business at the upcoming Republican convention. This story still has, uh, legs.

It would appear that Davidson's decision might be contrary to their cown Consitution:

Unfortunately, The Presbyterian Church (USA) allowed gay and lesbian ordination in 2011 but it is not a requirement that local Presbyterian congregations to make the decision that best suits their members. Another Christian denomination that has gone off the tracks in terms of God's Word.
As far as Davidson, a few angry calls by wealthy and conservative donors should take care of this problem pretty quick.

"Big Chicken Cathy"-lefties just cannot help attatching cutsie little names to those with a differing opinion

I wonder if Chick-fil-A will survive this $13.72 loss in annual revenue...
CFA should send over a free platter of chicken and sides, and we'll see if the average college kid cares more about misguided principles or stuffing their faces. I've got a fiver on one of the Davidson fatties cracking in under 90 seconds.

Small Media Salomon,
Your comment is so contradictory it's almost as if it came straight from the teleprompter of your Oba-massiah himself. Your fourth sentence says, "I abhor mixing politics/religion with consumerism, especially on a large scale," but isn't that exactly what they are doing?...to which you said, "Good for them." Do you have a problem with Davidson shopping at the stores that have come out in support of gay marriage? (like Home Depot, Starbucks, etc.) Of course not. Say what you really mean, "I abhor this particular command which God gave us, so naturally I champion Davidson's effort to defy Him."
Take whatever stand you must, but at least be honest about it. There's no denying God's view on homosexuality. He makes it plain as day in both the Old and New Testaments. Of course it's a sin like any other, but throughout time it has been the capstone sin, if you will, of a nation that completely turned from Him and is about to be destroyed, "so they will know My name is the Lord." (Ezekiel). From the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, to the Spartans and Trojans, to the Roman empire, to Alexander's reign; the mark of a sinful nation that God is about to tear down is capped-off when the people fully embrace homosexuality.
The argument isn't simply between two opposing points of view on homosexuality, as if it's a debate on whether Ford trucks are better than Chevy trucks. Rather it's what you believe about God, if anything. Because either:
• There is no God
• There is a God, but He is wrong about homosexuality; or
• God is all-powerful, infallible, and is to be obeyed.
That's the real debate here, and as for me and my house, we choose the third one.
All that being said, I have probably sinned more than you and most people, and all we are required to do is admit our sin to the living God (Jesus Christ) and turn from it, and we are free from it's condemnation.

I'll be glad when all this "buycott CFA!" and "boycott CFA!" nonsense dies down. Reading about it all the time makes me really want a CFA sandwich, and I'm trying to watch what I freakin' eat! That's my first point, and my second point is that I don't want to treat myself to CFA every so often and have to worry about someone interpreting it as a political statement. Seriously, the guy makes chicken not policy. All this talk, and buycotting, and especially the boycotting is giving Cathy more credit than he deserves. He exercised a 1st Amendment right...great. End of story.
