Drug Free Moore County is a multi sector coalition that has been addressing youth substance abuse since 1989. We welcome your participation in our meetings and events. Currently, we are sponsoring Operation Medicine Drop the week of March 21-26 in twelve locations countywide. Prescription drug abuse has been a major concern in our schools, as youth have easy access to old medications and unused prescriptions. This is both harmful and illegal. to use prescription drugs that have not been written for your use by a physician. The NC narcotic data base is used to track prescriptions and helps the health professionals track how much and when patients use these strong drugs, as there are those who engage in unlawful use and selling of these drugs.

Young parents are of special concern in this process--make sure you have all medications secured and out of sight. A Youth Contract is attached for your use in talking with your teen about drug use.
