Listening to a radio program the gentleman gave some interesting advice. The discussion was about how quick humanity can dissolve. He mentioned that his uncle worked for the government and passed along this advice. When a “disaster” occurs whether man made (hahaha) or natural. Do not go where the government tells you to go. In fact go in the opposite direction (when possible). If you go where the government tells you it will be like lambs heading to the slaughter. Just look at the, more recent tragedies Katrina and Haiti. It was mentioned that at most you have a window of 72 hours before chaos breaks out. The first 24 hours are usually people helping people. For the most part people are calm, shocked, they work together toward making the situation bearable. They think that more help is on the way. Well around 48 hours panic may begin to sink in and the instinct for survival, there is still some reserve and hope that the powers that be are coming to help. In that 48 – 72 hour frame, around the 52nd hour mark people realize there is no structure, that there is no “authority” so they begin to turn, they realize there is no law, they are the law. This is the point chaos breaks.
