Goodbye, Andy!

I've just seen it online: Andy Griffith is dead at the age of 86. For a child who grew up in the 1960s, "The Andy Griffith Show," set in the fictional town of Mayberry, was something we watched faithfully each week. Even now when I hear that whistle, I'm compelled to stop and watch the show, although I could probably recite the dialog from most of them word for word. If I'm not mistaken, the only principal stars left from that series are Jim Nabors (Gomer) and Betty Lynn (Thelma Lou).

Always a fan favorite, whether on "The Andy Griffith Show" or "Matlock," he will be missed.
