We got the call yesterday to be at the airport at 9 a.m. for a re-inspection of the plane. Which means we may be in the top 12 contestants our of 51 planes. We lost one plane after the race started to mechanical problems and one dropped out before the race started.

I went out to the airport at 8:30 a.m. Laurie flew back from Wildwood/Cape May Airport in NJ to Frederick and arrived at 9:00 a.m. We waited and waited for the inspections to be over. Finally they said I may need to do another flight for the handicap. That was cancelled as my handicap was fine. We left the airport for the scoring portion of the flight review. We got our scores and they were really good, but we did have a landing light blow out during flight and they did deduct two points for that problem. All in all we were on the plus side of the graph they gave us total overall score was 10.271 above our handicap of 167.87.

Tonight we saw a premier of a new movie called "Breaking Through the Clouds" from the Air Race in 1929 which was called the Air Race Derby later called the Powder Buff Derby by Will Rogers. Then there was a reception at an art gallery in Frederick which served light food fare and wine.

Returning back to the hotel for a much needed rest. Tomorrow a.m. we will be doing the First Time racers discussion and the banquet where we will find out our status in the race.

Sponsors for today are Dottie & Ron Smolen, Dot Buckanin, Diana Dade, Arlene Feldman, Barbara Feldman

Stay tuned for tomorrow's results.
