A few individuals met us at Elkhart that I forgot to include JC Cannon's sister Christine Murdock met up in the Indiana Flight Center on Thursday morning. I knew that she was working the race but thought she was unavailable as a timer. (We have not been able to talk to any of the timers, as it is against the rules while the race is going on) On Thursday she was not timing the race so we had a chance to meet and talk about flying.

At Frederick we had greeters and goody bags provided by Aircraft Owners & Pilot's Association, and tomorrow guided tours will be provided for all contestants at AOPA headquarters which is across the street from the airport.

This year's race had 2/3 of the contestants were first time racers. One third were repeats and many had competed over 5 times. One lady Ruby Sheldon is 94 years young and has competed in over 25 races in her flying career.

so glad that you have met Ruby! Be sure to give her a hug for me, and try to get her talking about some of her experiences: helicopter pilot, flying pipelines in Alaska, etc. Can't wait to hear how you did, hope all is well.
