At the end of the day, the potential for widespread damage from a tsunami spawned via the earthquake in Chile turned out to be a couple of big waves across the Pacific, and not much more. But for most of the day, it was something to follow - especially if you have a loved one in Hawaii. Our daughter just moved to Maui last week, so three days into her new life she's getting a different taste of island life. We stayed in touch until they made everyone turn off their phones, then we waited. We knew she was up high enough that she wouldn't get in the waves, but didn't know if there would be a surge that would ruin the town of Lahaina, where she lives now. All's well that ends well, but for that day there was another big concern for a father still trying to let go of his little girl.
