If you are looking for something to do this weekend, consider the Shakori Hills Festival up near Pittsboro, beginning tomorrow and running through Sunday. The music is first rate, headlined by Bela Fleck and his band, along with Donna the Buffalo, which put on one of the great sets I've ever seen at Merlefest a few years ago. The music is presented on several stages, with various little events, like music jams and dance instruction, going on in tents and small spaces around the grounds. Bring a bag chair and a jacket and prepare to stay late. It just gets better as the evening goes on. There is plenty of good food available on the grounds. Pat, You failed to mention that besides plenty of good food there were plenty of other items available to purchase ie "shrooms", weed etc.. Check with the Chatham Co. Sheriff's Department on the weekend activities there at Shakori Hills. This is not a family event at all but a mini Woodstock in the woods of Chatham County! Moore folks should wait for Vince Gill to perform here in Pinehurst instead of wasting your weekend at Shakori Hill event. That is unless you want to have blood shot eyes and a serious case of the munches! And if you do ever go to this event be prepared for traffic checks on all roads leading to this venue. Do you think the officers are checking to make sure folks are wearing their seat belts? New Yorkers keep your sister festival in New York and leave us law abiding folks alone to enjoy our music else where ie MerleFest, Alltel pavillion, Clyde Mannes's barn (where the strongest thing you may get there is a strong cup of coffee)! Pat beware what you endorse! You stated that it gets better as the evening goes on...such as the freaks come out at night! Have you ever been to this event? It's a festival for those folks lost in the 60's and 70's and those wanting to catch a buzz in nature! If you like sandal wearing, dreadlock, tie dyed clothes wearing drug using hippes be sure to buy yourself a full weekend package...it will take the extra day to sober up before you head home! Red neck but law abiding!
