Pinehurst resident Gordon White is known for many things — his service in World War II, being a cancer survivor, a career spanning more than 40 years as a New York Times sports reporter, winning awards as a weekly columnist for The Pilot — but some wouldn't know that this tough-talking sports guy is also a pretty good pickle-putter-upper — bread-and-butter pickles to be exact.
