The Left Just Doesn't Get It

Well, we have a classic demonstration of the left wing's misbegotten attempt to demonize and marginalize the people who are deeply concerned over the direction of the country under the "Obama Agenda."

After reading Paul Dunn's "Swastika" piece (Nov. 1), I asked some friends who had ­actually been there on Sept. 12. They reported that there were a few signs with swastikas, but if you bothered to read what the signs said, they were comparing Obama to Hitler and were totally anti-Nazi.

The sign-bearers apparently thought that here is a gifted orator who, though having no background of accomplishment, brought a message of "Hope and Change," was an extreme left-wing socialist, and who set about nationalizing major elements of the economy, suppressing dissent and otherwise feeding his megalomania. With, of course, disastrous results to Germany and the world.

Hitler had his Brown Shirts, Obama has his ACORN and SEIU. All this in half-serious good fun, right? Of course the left has very little sense of humor when it comes to anyone pointing out that Hitler was a left-winger or that gathering more and more power in a ­central government may be a bad thing, or that maybe they don't have all the answers and can tell everyone else what to do and what to think.

Too bad they don't understand that people have good reason to be concerned over $10 trillion in debt and still rising, over government bailouts and takeovers of banks, insurance companies, auto manufacturers and the entire health care sector, over "stimulus" packages that don't stimulate anything except politicians and political supporters, over 1,000-page bills that must be passed without debate, over shutout of Republican proposals and over international policies that disparage our friends and embolden our enemies.
