In its return to the court to start 2019, the O’Neal girls’ basketball team saw a balanced attack lead the Falcons to a 65-32 victory Friday over Burlington Christian School.
The win moves the Lady Falcons to 11-1, 3-0 on the season.
The Falcons were led by 13 points from both senior Ralayah McRae and sophomore Kayla Jenkins. Joining them in double-digits was sophomore Beka Carr, who scored her season-high 10 points in a dominant performance in the paint.
Junior Hadiya Balser added 12 points and helped lead a high scoring second quarter for the Falcons as they pushed ahead for a 34-12 halftime score.
The scoring column was rounded out by freshman Caelan McHarney’s six points, freshman Aaliyah Balser’s seven points, and junior Rachel Patton’s four points.
“Tonight was a great team win,” said Falcon head coach Lulu Brase. “We shared the ball well and got contributions from numerous players. Beka Carr was outstanding for us tonight — it’s not a surprise, as we’ve seen this in practice daily. It was great seeing her shine in the game as well.”
The Falcons were scheduled to face Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill Tuesday. Results were not available by press time. O’Neal will travel to play American Hebrew Wednesday and Davidson Day Friday.
