Sgt. Tina Sheppard, of the Pinehurst Police Department, with her horses on her farm off N.C. 211 east of Aberdeen. Sheppard is now organizing a 12-member volunteer mounted patrol to work local special events, assist with search and rescue operations and serve as a public relations tool in the village of Pinehurst.
