'You've Got Rhythm, You're Ready': Boys and Girls Club of the Sandhills Discovers DRUM
Students at the Boys and Girls Club of the Sandhills got a chance to find their rhythm Jan. 11, with West African drums and instruments. Marci Houseman, of the Moore County school system, introduced her D.R.U.M. program to the club. D.R.U.M. stands for "Discipline, Respect and Unity through Music," fostering creative expression and builds unity through the communal creation of music. Houseman first began the program as a music teacher at West Pine Middle School. She now hosts a DRUM club at Southern Pines Primary School where she is a principal intern this year.
