9th Annual Spelling Bee for Literacy – Thursday, February 7, 2013

The Moore County Literacy Council Ninth Annual Spelling Bee for Literacy was held at the Lee Auditorium of Pinecrest High School, on Thursday, February 7. Nineteen themed and costumed spelling teams representing various business and community organizations, vied for the title of spelling bee champions at this “highly-spirited” and light-hearted event. Best Audience Garb, Best Costumes, Best Buzz, and Keep The Hive Alive, along with The Bee Bazaar, and music performed by the Union Pines Pep Band, were all features of the Bee. Bob Howell acted as Master of Pronunciation, while The Pilot publisher David Woronoff presided as the Master of Ceremonies. Photos by Al and Annette Daniels
