Firefighters from multiple departments responded to a fire at a storage building at a home at 180 Trails End Road near Whispering Pines July 10. The fire destroyed the building, a lawn mower and other items inside. No one was injured in the fire, which was reported shortly before 8 a.m.

Austin Allen was one of 92 participants in the 68th Pinehurst Junior Tennis Classic at the Pinehurst Resort Tennis Club. July 14 marked the final day of the annual event, which is the longest consecutive junior tournament in the state and is a United States Tennis Association (USTA) sanctioned boys and girls level 4 tournament.
